Online Beer Price Posting System Going Live

The online Beer Price Posting system will be released on February 16, 2021. The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) will roll out the system with a phased implementation. The phased implementation will allow ABC to work with a smaller group of licensees, providing more assistance during the transition to the online system. The first three phases will consist of manufacturers. Manufacturers will be responsible for inputting their product names into the online system. Only after their product names are loaded into the system can licensees submit prices for those products.

Each phase is scheduled for a two-week time period but may be adjusted based upon the licensee support required for each phase. When it is your time to register in the online Beer Price Posting system, you will receive an email from no.reply.priceposting@abc.ca.gov with your registration information. For those that have not provided an online Beer Price Posting system email address to ABC, a registration letter will be mailed to the mailing address on file.

Manufacturers (Phases 1–3)

The license types included in the first three phases are as follows:

  • Phase 1 – Manufacturers who provided an online Beer Price Posting system email address
  • Phase 2 – Remaining License Types 01, 26, and Certificate of Compliance holders (no email address provided)
  • Phase 3 – Remaining License Types 23 and 75 (no email address provided)

It is imperative for all manufacturers to input their product names during their phases of the implementation to allow the wholesalers in the remaining phases to post their prices. If you hold a Certificate of Compliance but are not the manufacturer of the beer you must contact the true manufacturer of the beer to have them input their product names when it is their time to register. If the manufacturer of the beer is located outside of the United States and is not required to be licensed by ABC, that foreign beer manufacturer must complete the form ABC-415 to submit their product names to ABC. Upon receipt of the form ABC-415, ABC will load the foreign beer manufacturer’s product name(s) into the online Beer Price Posting system so that licensees can post prices for those items. At no time should a Certificate of Compliance holder input product names into the system unless they are the manufacturer of the product(s).

Wholesalers (Phases 4–6)

The following license types will be included in the final three phases:

  • Phase 4 – License Types 10, 17 (batch 1)
  • Phase 5 – License Type 17 (batch 2)
  • Phase 6 – License Type 17 (batch 3)

Program Information

For information about the new system including frequently asked questions, global settings and templates see ABC’s Beer Price Posting page or ABC’s YouTube channel.  ABC posted short instructional videos that will teach licensees how to use the online Beer Price Posting system.

Process Changes

Licensees are to continue the current paper process until they have registered in the online Beer Price Posting system. Only after all current prices have been posted in the online system can a licensee discontinue submitting the form ABC-701.
