ABC Suspends the License of “The Venue” in Livermore

45 Day suspension is posted for business that operated as a ‘Disorderly House’

Livermore – On January 17, 2019, Agents from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) posted a Notice of Suspension at the Venue, located at 2293 First Street in Livermore.

The suspension is the result of an investigation conducted by the ABC and the Livermore Police Department related to the ongoing disorderly operation of the business, as defined by California Business and Professions Code Section 25601.

From April 2017 through June 2018 , police were required to respond and take action at the business numerous times for incidents such as fights, assaults, public drunkenness and disturbing the peace. Required police response created a significant drain on police resources.

In addition to the business being operated in a continuous disorderly fashion, the Department’s accusation also alleges the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors.

Under the stipulated terms of the decision, the business is prohibited from serving or selling alcohol for 45 days and the licensee has been placed on probation for three years. The licensee will also be required to stop the sale, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages at 12:30 AM each day of the week and provide adequate, State -licensed security while the privileges of the ABC license are being exercised.

Upon completion of the suspension, the ABC could move to permanently revoke the business’ s license if the licensee allows similar levels of disorderly activity to occur at any time during the three -year probationary period.

ABC is a Department of the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.
