ABC Revokes the License of Super Star Market in Marysville

The license has been revoked and the current owner has 180 days to transfer the license

Marysville – The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has revoked the liquor license of the Super Star Market located at 103 East 12th Street in Marysville. Alcohol sales are immediately prohibited and will not be allowed until the license is transferred.

ABC agents posted a notice of indefinite suspension at the store after finding numerous violations including sales of illegal drug paraphernalia, multiple sales of alcohol to minors, and receiving purportedly stolen property. The penalty is revocation with the revocation stayed for a period of 180 days to allow for the current owner to transfer the license to a new owner who is acceptable to ABC.

ABC also initiated a Target Responsibility for Alcohol Connected Emergencies (TRACE) investigation after receiving a California Highway Patrol (CHP) report of a DUI vehicle crash involving several minors who allegedly purchased alcohol at the store.

The September 19, 2020 single vehicle crash involved minors ranging from16-19 years old. The driver and one passenger sustained minor injuries. A third passenger sustained major injuries. The ABC TRACE investigation determined the minors purchased alcohol at Super Star Market prior to the crash.

“Protecting youth is a public safety priority,” said ABC Director Eric Hirata. ”ABC licensees must remain vigilant and check identifications carefully to keep youth safe.”

The TRACE program is made possible by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The grant provides funding for in-depth ABC investigations of serious incidents involving alcohol and minors, including car crashes. Visit our website to learn more about TRACE.

The mission of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control is to provide the highest level of service and public safety to the people of the State through licensing, education, and enforcement.

ABC is a Department of the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.
