ABC Asks the Public to Help Reduce DUI’s this Labor Day

ABC will help with DUI prevention

Sacramento – The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) advises anyone of legal drinking age to help prevent DUI’s this Labor Day weekend by designating a sober driver before choosing to celebrate with alcohol.

“ABC’s goal is to improve overall safety in communities,” says ABC Director Eric Hirata. “Californians can do their part to keep everyone safe by planning ahead and taking alternative transportation if they plan to travel somewhere and consume alcohol.”

ABC is also asking alcoholic beverage licensees and servers to help prevent DUI’s by checking IDs, not selling alcohol to minors and not overserve obviously intoxicated patrons. There are over 93,000 ABC California licensees and over 56,000 locations where alcohol is sold for consumption on the premises.

ABC protects communities through education and by administering prevention and enforcement programs designed to increase compliance with California’s alcoholic beverage laws. ABC is a Department of the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.
