ABC Announces that Grant Applications are now Available for Local Law Enforcement to Increase Safety in California Communities

California Office of Traffic Safety Grants will help fund Multiple ABC Programs

Sacramento – Beginning October 1, 2021, the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), sponsored by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), anticipates awarding grants up to $20,000 to local law enforcement agencies to utilize the Minor Decoy Program, Shoulder Tap Program and Informed Merchants Preventing Alcohol-related Crime Tendencies (IMPACT) Program in order to help reduce underage drinking and address alcohol-related harm in the community. The grant operation period will begin October 1, 2021, or upon federal spending authority (whichever is later) through August 31, 2022.

“These grants will help reduce youth access to alcohol and increase safety in communities throughout California,” says ABC Director Eric Hirata.

All interested agencies should understand the funding of these grants is contingent upon the ABC receiving funds from the OTS for the 2021/22 federal fiscal year.
