ABC Posts 30-Day-Suspension at Amelia’s Club in Wilmington

Crack down on multiple illegal solicitations of alcoholic beverages

Wilmington – On March 17, 2021, the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) posted a 30-day-suspension notice at an ABC licensed premises operating under the name of Amelia’s Club, located at 403 North Avalon Boulevard, in the City of Wilmington. The business is prohibited from selling, serving and allowing consumption of alcoholic beverages for 30 days. In addition to the 30-day-suspension, the department has also placed the license on probation with an order of revocation stayed for a period of three years on condition that no cause for disciplinary action occur within the stayed period.

Undercover Agents visited the location numerous times during an investigation and discovered violations that involved illegal drink solicitations. Such practices can contribute to the over-service of alcohol and possibly other violations of law. The violations found by ABC Agents resulted in a 19-count-accusation filed against the licensee’s Type 40 On-Sale Beer License.

ABC encourages licensees to sign up for ABC’s Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs (LEAD) training free of charge. Licensees and their employees can now take LEAD training online.
