Governor Newsom Appoints Joseph McCullough as ABC Chief Deputy Director

Sacramento –  Governor Gavin Newsom has announced the appointment of Joseph McCullough to the position of Chief Deputy Director of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), where he has served as Northern Division Chief since 2019.

McCullough has served in several positions at ABC from 2001 to 2019, most recently as the Division Chief of ABC’s Northern Division overseeing several district offices. Prior to holding the position of Northern Division Chief, McCullough held multiple positions including Deputy Division Chief, Northern Division; Deputy Division Chief, Headquarters; District Administrator, Stockton District Office; and District Administrator, Special Operations Unit. McCullough is a member of the California Peace Officers Association and National Liquor Law Enforcement Association.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento.

ABC is a department of the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency.
