West Side Market in Modesto Loses ABC License for Illegal Gambling, Narcotics

The owner has 180 days to transfer the license

Modesto – The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) posted a Notice of Suspension at West Side Market located at 401 Maze Boulevard in Modesto on March 16, 2023, for illegal activity at the premises. The license has been suspended indefinitely and will be revoked if not transferred to a different owner within 180 days.

The suspension is the result of an investigation in which ABC agents uncovered evidence of illegal gambling and narcotics at the business. As a result of the investigation, ABC agents seized approximately eight pounds of marijuana, packaging material commonly used for illegal narcotics sales, and items used to facilitate the illegal gambling operation.

“These investigations are vital to our ongoing efforts to increase public safety and protect communities,” said ABC Director Eric Hirata.

Illegal gambling operations can threaten public safety and violate regulations intended to protect the public and consumer.
