Public Safety Power Shutoffs Update

Power Shutoffs Force Closure of ABC Offices in Eureka and Santa Rosa

(Sacramento) – The ABC Santa Rosa and Eureka offices are without power today, Wednesday, October 9 and will be closed for the day because of the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoffs.  High winds and high fire danger are forecast through Thursday, October 10 in Northern and Central California affecting several counties. Southern California counties could be affected as well as high winds are forecast for Thursday, October 10 and Friday, October 11. More ABC offices could be closed because of the power shutdowns.

Since some ABC Offices are already closed and others could be affected, we encourage you to try reaching another ABC office for assistance by visiting our Contact page.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

As a courtesy we are providing information from PG&E, Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas and Electric regarding the potential for power outages and also public safety tips. Please stay safe.

From PG&E – What is a Public Safety Power Shutoff?

For public safety, it may be necessary to turn off electricity when gusty winds and dry conditions, combined with a heightened fire risk, are forecast. This is called a “Public Safety Power Shutoff” or “PSPS.” While customers in high fire-threat areas are more likely to be affected, any of PG&E’s more than 5 million electric customers could have their power shut off. This is because the energy system relies on power lines working together to provide electricity across cities, counties and regions.
