Officer Identification

ABC peace officers visibly display identification on their uniforms that includes their agency and either a name or badge number, or both, when performing enforcement duties. ABC agents also routinely engage in plainclothes or undercover work. While engaged in uniform or plainclothes work, ABC agents may ask individuals to show identification for the purpose of age verification and compliance with state law. When doing so, our agents will clearly state they are law enforcement personnel and will show their credentials that identify themselves. The only exceptions to this policy are those codified within Penal Code section 7288.
