ABC Suspends the License of Sugars Bikini Bar in Anaheim for 35 Days

Investigation by ABC and Anaheim Police Found Multiple Violations

Anaheim – On Tuesday , January 8 , 2019, The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and t he Anaheim Police Department posted a 35 day Notice of Suspension at Sugars Bikini Bar located at 405 South Brookhurst Street in Anaheim.

ABC disciplined the premises for violations of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act and California Code of Regulations. Alcohol sales are prohibited for the next 35 days until the suspension is over. In addition, the license of the business will be on probation for the next three years and ABC has the authority to revoke the license if similar violations occur.

ABC Agents and Anaheim Police Officers conducted an in depth investigation and discovered numerous violation s including allowing a minor to enter and remain on the premises, the illegal service of alcohol , lewd conduct and the employment of unlicensed security guards . The bar allowed its servers to charge patrons extra money for alcoholic beverages in exchange for keeping them company. Additionally, bar employees participated in illegal lewd conduct activity in public view of patrons during business hours. Such practices can contribute to the over -service of alcohol and other violations of law.

The funding for this investigation was made possible by a grant from the ABC’s Alcohol Policing Partnership Program ( APP ). The program has provided a boost to public safety by partnering ABC agents and local law enforcement in the field together to increase protection for youth, address problem establishments that have over served patrons , and raise public awareness about the importance of pursing higher compliance with alcoholic beverage laws. ABC licensed establishments play a significant role in the effort to improve overall safety. They can do their part by checking identifications and promoting patron safety.

ABC protects communities through education and by administering prevention and enforcement programs designed to increase compliance with California’s alcoholic beverage laws.
